I had a really great week – I watched Encanto twice, I had some great conversations, I enjoyed beautiful moments with students, ate some great pizza, I found a really good gluten free/dairy free/nut free/soy free recipe to share with all my allergy children and friends. I also read three more books on prayer.
My Goodreads list of books I’ve read on prayer in the past 18 months is at 43 now. I also had a really good conversation with my spiritual director about prioritising contemplative prayer as a habit. Based on that and the lack of major events this week, I’ll share my continued request for everything (including praising God for a decrease in leg spasms along with an increase in outside temperature) with this poem that I wrote which will eventually be paired with Givorgy’s photography in a special collection we’re working on.
Of Psalm 1
Blessed is the one
Where is my identity?
I am blessed
I do not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
Where is my attention?
I look to you
My delight is in the law of the Lord
Where is my truth?
I meditate on you
I am a tree
With roots growing deep
With branches that are strong
planted by streams of water
A River that waters me
A River that changes me
which yields its fruit in season
After weathering storms
After giving of my life to grow
and whose leaf does not wither
There comes a reward
There comes a promise
whatever they do prospers
For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous
