Shifting Shadows

From the Smoky Mountain foothills to the shadow of the Rockies is quite a shift. I’ll admit those green covered hills were stunning, and it’s a different kind of beauty to be surrounded by red all the time. Now that I’ve been here a week, I’ve had some quality time viewing the Kissing Camels and making my way out to Castlewood Canyon State Park which is one of my favourite places on earth after that amazing day hanging out there with Julia a few years back.

I love visiting Colorado, but I never want to live here. I miss the green, and I miss the ocean. I will admit, while I’m away, I miss the loved ones scattered around this state. I have a lot of people I’ve already seen and a few more to spend time with in my last days this coming week. I know I’m super loved, and it’s a real treat to be face to face with some of my biggest champions.

It’s also fun to get spontaneous tattoos with my cousin who is a total gem.

Aside from multiple In-N-Out stops and family hangout time, I’ve done some quality TCK care, and even replied to a few youth group related messages. It’s hard to actually call this a vacation, but I do love the fun and different stuff I get to do while in this time zone.

I miss my RCC family, but I’m really, really excited for one more Sunday at ECBC as I get to worship in another place I call home. I only have a few more days in Colorado, but I just confirmed my ride from the airport in Grand Rapids, and, boy oh boy, is that going to be an exciting story as you see how much I squeeze into 48 hours in Michigan before flying home. It might be a little chillier up north, but I’m prepared for what sunshine and love I can get when I trade the shadows of the Rockies for the midwestern sky.
