Another Thursday

I love me a good Thursday. This past Thursday I sat at the bus stop from Burwood to go to the beach, and I texted one of my precious children a happy birthday message. He’s the Thursday kid. I’d felt like I’d skipped a few Thursdays, so it was nice to wish him a happy birthday right after an intense and beautiful physio session before grabbing a coffee at the coast.

My Burwood appointment was a special combo where my private and funded physios got some professional development as the teamed up to torment me. We had lots of laughs together as two sets of eyes could catch more details about when I was or wasn’t breathing and which muscle groups were compensating while others struggled to activate. In the end, I was overjoyed to work and sweat and show off some regained skills as they picked a few new exercises for me to work on in the coming weeks. I finished the session with so much more hope of regaining what I’d lost in the last six months while waiting for my botox.

I also returned my trial chair and got my brand new hot pink one ordered which should arrive in about a month. I live in a weird place as I sit in my new braces waiting for my new wheelchair and seeing the hard work pay off in physio while also asking for the miracle. I believe that God is going to do wild and beautiful things in and through me this year. Why not ask to walk? It’s in the margin of believable as I serve this God who is transforming lives all around me. I’ve seen so much good in this week alone.

Friday was another Thursday for me as I got to start my day with one of the best humans at one of the best coffee shops. Then I had a pool party with fifty incredible young people. Saturday had solid Thursday vibes as my friend picked me up to go see an outdoor production of Richard III and wander the Mona Vale gardens. Today I got to have banana bacon pancakes and hang out with one of my most amazing youth leaders. I’m on that trajectory of transformation as I enter into a run of Thursdays. The sun has finally showed up in Christchurch, and I’m so pumped for what’s ahead.

May we all experience a week of Thursdays as God shows up in the unexpected.
