City

I’ve talked before about the different definitions Americans and Kiwis have for the suburbs, but the fact of the matter is that I’m called to a city. As much as I want to live in a cave forever, I know Christchurch is where God has me for the foreseeable future.

By the grace of God, that is acknowledged and supported by the New Zealand government for the next two years. I am happy to shout from the rooftops that my visa has been renewed – thank you to everyone who prayed, financially donated to cover the expenses, and to Mark who wrote the extra letter on the day turn around because I only got 48 hours notice of needing more documentation.

Our church is doing a mini series on God’s heart for the city right now, and I’m loving the messages of how we can pray and envision impact across all of Christchurch on a massive scale when we are all in as individuals. I led my term planning meeting with my leaders this afternoon, and I was excited to see these people across different life stages and stories brainstorm how we can encourage and disciple and share the good news of Jesus with people in our city.
