Day 17 of 40 Days of Prayer

For those of you praying along with me for miracles these forty days, please read aloud this Psalm with my name and ask God to reveal new feeling and function in my body.

Psalm 38 (NIV)

A psalm of David. A petition.

Lord, do not rebuke Laura in your anger or discipline her in your wrath.

Your arrows have pierced Laura, and your hand has come down on her.

Because of your wrath there is no health in Laura’s body; there is no soundness in her bones because of her sin.

Laura’s guilt has overwhelmed her like a burden too heavy to bear.

Laura’s wounds fester and are loathsome because of her sinful folly.

Laura is bowed down and brought very low; all day long she goes about mourning.

Laura’s back is filled with searing pain; there is no health in her body.

Laura is feeble and utterly crushed; Laura’s groans in anguish of heart.

All Laura’s longings lie open before you, Lord; Laura’s sighing is not hidden from you.

Laura’s heart pounds, her strength fails her; even the light has gone from her eyes.

Laura’s friends and companions avoid her because of her wounds; her neighbors stay far away.

Those who want to kill Laura set their traps, those who would harm her talk of her ruin; all day long they scheme and lie.

Laura like the deaf, who cannot hear, like the mute, who cannot speak;

Laura has become like one who does not hear, whose mouth can offer no reply.

Lord, Laura waits for you; you will answer, Lord Laura’s God.

For Laura said, “Do not let them gloat or exalt themselves over me when my feet slip.”

For Laura’s about to fall, and her pain is ever with her.

Laura confesses her iniquity; Laura’s troubled by her sin.

Many have become Laura’s enemies without cause those who hate her without reason are numerous.

Those who repay Laura’s good with evil lodge accusations against her, though she seeks only to do what is good.

Lord, do not forsake Laura; do not be far from her, Laura’s God.

Come quickly to help Laura, her Lord and her Savior.
